Highfield Level 3 Award in Undertaking End-Point Assessment (EPA) is designed for people who want to become End Point Assessors. The Government aims for three million apprentices and every one needs an end point assessment which means there will be a great demand for End Point Assessors. There are apprentices across every sector of employment to if you have excellent occupational competence and/or qualifications and are looking for a new opportunity this could be the perfect course for you.

 

As a qualified assessor the fast track option has been designed to support assessors in understanding the different types of EPA and the role of the EPA assessor. It will enable you to apply new EPA methodologies while making the distinction between end-point and ongoing assessment, and covers learning outcomes and assessment criteria that focus on EPA grading and quality assurance processes.

 

This course will also help you if you work for an organisation that delivers the new apprenticeship standards as it will enhance your understanding of the EPA process.

You will learn the skills required of an EPA and the practice and process of end point assessment. It will provide specific knowledge and skills for those who already have sector/occupational competence, but would like to gain a more specialised understanding of EPA processes and practices. It will support them to understand and use EPA principles and practices to assess an apprentice against an apprenticeship standard.

The Award has 1 unit which must be fully completed to gain the qualification

Unit: The Principles and Practices of End Point assessment

 

  1. Understand the principles and practices of end-point assessment as part of an apprenticeship standard
  2. Understand different types and methods of end-point assessment
  3. Know how to plan end-point assessments in line with the apprenticeship standard and assessment plan
  4. Be able to make end-point assessment decisions
  5. Understand quality assurance of the end-point assessment process

The Principles and Practices of End-Point Assessment

This qualification is delivered by the following method:

Part 1 - Before you attend the training, you will receive resources and a short question and answer assignment to complete before the training. You will have email contact with the tutors to give you guidance and support. This will demonstrate your understanding and knowledge.

You will email the completed assessment back to your tutor for assessment and feedback. This must be submitted within 10 days following the face-to-face event. If additional evidence is required, you must submit this within 10 working days.

Part 2 - You will attend the face-to-face training day and this will include:

  • Information about End Point Assessment and Apprenticeships
  • How to conduct End Point Assessmnets
  • Grading of End Point Assessments
  • Providing feedback
  • Quality Assurance processes

As part of your qualification, you will demonstrate your skills by taking part in paired activities during the day.

On successful completion of Part 1 and 2, your qualification will be complete and your certificate will be claimed from the Awarding Organisation.

About the tutors for Level 3 Award in Undertaking End Point Assessment

Sam Sutton and Anne Horn are both End Point Assessors and IQA for  EPA Organisations and have been involved in the pilot implementation of EPA assessments for the new Apprenticeship standards.

Sam and Anne have many years of experience successfully delivering apprenticeships and delivering high quality training. They also deliver Assessor, Internal Quality Assurance qualifications and Initial Teacher Training.  They write resources for Awarding Organisations and are also lecturers at a University.
